I'd like to remove the knob on my 3 speed gear shift lever so as to get it a pearl finish like I'm doing on my steering wheel so everything matches. Is it possible to do this without destroying it?

There are re-pops available. Without discussing ways of getting the original off where something is enevitably going to require refinishing, a re-pop might be the path of least resistance so to speak.
