I'm replacing the door panels on my 63 Impala SS. I'm considering buying from Ciadella or Cars Inc. and am wondering if anyone has had experience with the door panels from either of these companies. I know there are a lot of other companies selling panels as well...and some for much less money, but I'm thinking you only get what you pay for and I want the best I can find for my car. Thoughts? Anywhere else I should consider? Thanks. Bob

I have done 3 Cars Inc complete interiors for my 62's and one Ciadella Interior in my 62 SS Impala convertible.
I also installed 2 -63 Impalas interiors for friends -one Cars Inc interior and one PUI interior.

The 1963 PUI interior was junk -wrong buttons on seats, door panels did not fit the doors - average quality, seams wrong on back seat lower section. The door panels did not come with the correct metal edges with the nails.

The Cars 63 Interior was very nice.

Do not use anything but Cars Inc or Ciadella Interiors. They have quality interiors and they fit. Other cheap brands are not worth spending your money.

Remember to only use your original metal top rails for the door and rear 1/4 interior panels(you send them to the company to install them). They fit and they will stay in place on the doors and rear 1/4's. Reproduction top rails do not work -they will not stay in place and they do not fit right....

Make sure the door panels come with metal edge rails with the nails -do not use fold over nails (they break off and will not stay in place).
Also buy only the "assembled " door panels/rear 1/4 kit with windlace, rear arm rest covers, and material for front chrome armrests.

Make sure to check that the wisker strips are installed on the inside door panels & rear 1/4 interior panels( I have found that the assembled panels are sold without these items installed). You may have to purchase the window felt kit from Cars or Ciadella. Repops brand is the best -use the best for this part also. The kit includes the rubber seals for the chrome on the top of the doors and rear 1/4's. Its much easier to install the door panels when you have the correct nails, original top rails and marked vent and window and door holes (that have to be cut with a round punch...).

Assembled door panels have the original metal top rails that are stapled on "large machines " to the new door/1/4 panel boards and the metal rails with nails added to match the plastic holders in the doors (for the nails) and cardboard pieces (for the nails)for the rear 1/4 pieces above the rear arm rests.

Cars Inc and Ciadella Interiors are sold with discounts with some vendors over holidays during any given year. I have purchased my interiors with 10 % to 20 % off regular prices. Make the vendor tells you what interior they are selling, if its not Cars or Ciadella don't buy from them...

Hi, I bought a complete interior kit for my '59 Impala hardtop from Ciadella and found it to be first class.
I specifically ordered door and quarter panels with Ciadella's repro top rails because I am in Sydney, Australia and it was far better to buy the pre assembled panels with top rails, fuzzies, etc. rather than ship my top rails back to the US and so on.
The results were great, everything fitted perfectly.
I guess everyone has their experiences, but I also found that Gina Ciadella very helpful and willing to assist.
Some thirty years ago I bought a complete kit from Ciadella (Peter) for my '62 SS Convertible and that time I had a local trimming shop install the kit as well as the top and everything was fine.
So, I understand that there are other competent suppliers out there but for my money, I can say that Ciadellas was the right choice for me.
Best of luck!
John

Thanks Paul for that very thorough and informative explanation. Did you have a preference between Ciadella and Cars Inc.? Cars Inc. did a YouTube comparison of their seat cover vs. Ciadella and the differences were very striking. I'm wondering if the same holds true for their door panels? If you had a 63 Impala needing door panels, which company would you use? Thanks again....Bob

John...thanks for your input. I appreciate you taking the time to reply. Sounds like you did quite well with Ciadella. Bob

Personally I like Ciadella, worked with Gina(fantastic to work with) and service was great extremely helpful. But at the same time I have never used Cars Inc.

Bob,
I would probably use Cars Inc.. I just toured their visited their interior restoration work area in Michigan to have some rear 1/4 interior pieces redone ( that had reproduction top rails). We matched the red color for panels that were made about 4 years ago. I had to have them redone with original metal top rails since the rear 1/4 windows were blowing/pushing the interior panels off car when the window was rolled up. I was shown their door panel work - impressive. I also picked up some metal edge bands for a door panel were the nails did not fit the drivers door plastic sleeves and had to be moved.

I would talk to Joe at Cars Inc in Michigan ( l have purchased lots of parts through Joe). I noted that they have a Christmas 10 % off sale probably till only early January.
I also note that the Ecklers Late Great Chevy (58-64) web site that their door panels and seats are coming from Cars Inc( the address to send your metal top rails is the Cars Inc. address in Rochester Hills, Michigan along with warehouse pictures of Cars.

I also was very satisfied with Ciadella on my 62 SS Impala Convertible interior - they helped me get wisker strips added to my Ecklers 20 % off sale about three years ago( the Interiors they were selling came from Ciadella at that time).

I note some prices from “dealers” that vary over $ 150/$200 for assembled door panels from Cars or Ciadella. I also note non assembled door panels without factory buttons and cheap PUI interiors at one large vendor/dealer selling interiors “ that they do not make”....

Thanks again Paul, Cars Inc. it is. The 10% off sale is good until Jan 6. Presently I'm waiting for a sample of the green vinyl they are mailing to me. There seems to be a lot of variation on the greens that are being offered and I'd like to see what it's going to be before I take the plunge.

You may want to rethink going the Cars route. The you tube video is not 100% accurate. There was some mudslinging going on and to be nice lets just say its water under a bridge. Gina hands down is the best in the business. Call the shop and she will take your call and answer all of your questions personally and will stand behind her product 100%. You want stock she can do that, you want to mix up materials from different years or create a color combination that has never been done she can do it, full custom she can do that too. Take a look on FB you will find her work all over and you can find her as well she actively participates on multiple pages. Its not just the dollar you save its about the quality and value that you get for what you spend that matters too.

Hi Guys,
I saw that video a while ago and thought that it was a very cheap shot, and reflected poorly on whoever made it.
