There are two potential compatibility issues you need to check out before you lay down your money - the heads and the crank flange.
If the crate engine uses center bolt valve covers, your intake manifold won't bolt up to those heads. If it has a one-piece rear crankshaft seal, your flywheel/flexplate won't fit the crank flange bolt pattern.
I can't tell you how to identify these issues without actually looking at the engine. If you can't tell by looking, ask the vendor. If the vendor can't answer these questions, you might be better off shopping elsewhere.

Thank you Ray, it’s not a center bolt motor I think, I’m going to look at it later, and I’ll grab a pic of the crank seal of that helps? it’s a second hand motor, it was used only very briefly

The crank flange is less of an issue than the heads. Assuming you have an automatic trans, the later type flexplate isn't expensive or difficult to find. For that reason, the flange shouldn't be a deal breaker. IMO, the one-piece seal is a better design anyway.

Cool, cheers yea I’m told the heads are the earlier type, (bolts on the sides,)but since I know little of these I’ll post some pics up later to be absolutely sure, yes it’s an auto, and the car is almost stock, only reason I want to swap to this engine is because I’m getting it for a lot cheaper than I can rebuild the 305 for,

i cant upload pictures as my image hosting site does not recognise this site, but its a gen 1 style engine with the 2 piece seal, a guy on another site is telling me my cc quadrajet will not work on the 350, is there any truth to that?

Does cc mean computer controlled? If yes, I honestly don't know enough about that to answer. What does your other site guy say won't work? I mean, is it a calibration issue or what? Also, does the finished installation have to pass an emission test? If yes, your guy might very well be right.

yes computer controlled, there are no emissions tests at all here, but im being told dont bother with it all, its cheap enough to convert it to a regular carb and distributor

CCC Q-Jet will work just fine on a 350. May need some mechanical adjustments to the mixture control system and a better set of secondary rods (Would find some DR's to start on a lower alpha hanger. (B-H hanger) but if the system is correctly operating and in good shape it will run and drive as if it still had the 305 under it driveability wise and just have the added punch of the 350 when you are into the throttle. I have had one on both a 403 Oldsmobile that went in place of a 307 in a 1988 Cadillac and a 400 HP 383 Chevy in a 1985 Elcamino.
