Hello Everyone. I am new to this forum, and also a bit new to the 60-66 C10's.I am a licenced diesel tech from Alberta Canada. I have bought/built/sold a few of the 73-87 square bodies over the years. and also had a couple of nova's and a second gen camaro. From the time that I was 15 and an uncle of mine brought home a 65 C-10 long box I have been totally in love with the body lines of the 60-66. Well, recently I traded the above mentioned 2nd gen camaro (under construction) on a 65 C10 of my own. it is a shortbox stepside truck. I also have a 1982 C10 that I am parting out. So, my question is this. will the spindles front disk brakes from the 82 directly swap onto the 65? also can I adapt the power steering and power brake booster directly onto the 65 as well? I also plan on seeing if the 10 bolt from the 82 will adapt easily to the 65 so I can have 5x5" bolt pattern all around. (as long as the flange to flange width is the same) I am totally stoked to start work on this truck. I will post pics as soon as I can.

http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/showthread.... I just did this to one of my trucks but keeping the 65 steering components. I used 75 year model spindles. On my other truck I used the entire steering components, including the upper and lower control arms that will bolt to the 65 cross member. There is an adapter you can get for the steering box. One is a Rez design kit or if you are on the other forum a guy named Capt Fab sells one that I hear is pretty good.

The 82 rear has mounts for leaf springs. You could use it if you weld on the mounts for the trailing arms and a mount for the panhard bar. It is wider than your stock rear but will still fit inside your fenders if you run "reasonable" tires and wheels.
71-72 C10 rears have 5 lugs and will bolt to your trailing arms, so no welding is necessary. The same note about width applies as for the 82 rear.
You can get aftermarket 5 lug shafts which will fit your stock housing, but there are no OE 5 lug shafts out of anything which are the correct length.

I would use the complete cross member and suspension from the 82. that way there is no problem of mismatching parts etc. and is a pretty simple install. for steering box adaptor. brake booster adaptor and mounting brackets for the 82 rear axle Captain Fab is the fellow to go to and he is quite knowledgeable on these trucks. he is a member here. mailto:captainfab454@hotm ail.com
