Ok so I didn't think this thru when I started taking my car apart. The convertible top is up, I cut the wires to the control knowing I was replacing the wires. I'm trying to get the top down. Is it possible to run the motor by touching wires to battery and if it is possible witch wire goes where. Three wires one red one green and on tan. Please help and thank you in advance.

You can remove the two bolts that attach the top bows to the hydraulic cylinders. Then you can lower the top manually.

Probably safer than shorting wires.

My wife bought the '56 convertible in 1981 for $7347.79. (She got me in 1982.) A friend of ours had just finished a minor restoration on it. He had to pay a debt and needed some money fast. The odd price is because that is exactly what he needed to pay off his debt. It is needing another refresh now. Hopefully I can do that soon before I get too old.

Poolville is about 35 miles north west of Fort Worth.

Well Louis I don't know how old you are, but I turned 69 last sept. And I just got started on my 55 convertible and actually I bought it for my wife and we've had it about 12 years. So the engine was tired so I decided to take it all apart and redo the whole car over.
