Hey guys....been a while. I have a 1966 S-69 Chevrolet school bus and its 3 hours away at the farm but I'm trying to get together some parts now to go up on thanksgiving and work on it. I need to know what size brake lines, fuel lines, and clutch lines it has. I'm planning on buying a couple of bulk rolls of metal tubing and installing all new lines on it, among other parts like brake booster, carburetor, clutch slave cylinder, and brake mister cylinder.

Just need to know what size lines it has so I know what to buy. Would be nice to know what fittings and how many I need too but that might be an impossible quotation to answer, haha.

I would like to clarify it is a 60 series and has a gvw of 21,000 lbs. Not sure if that helps or not.

Do the parts manuals not call it out ? I would think they would.

.......that is, if anyone here Has access to one. Unfortunately I don't.

you should be able to tell by what fittings work and as to how many that you need, all that you have to do is count
not many are familiar with C60 trucks
you don't have any old lines to size

It is 3 hours away from me and I am trying to order all the parts I can before I get up there to work on it. Wish I could look at it. It would be a lot easier.

they do show the lines in the assembly manual but everything is part nbrs and no sizes given. here is a link for a heavy haulers section on another forum. you should find perhaps some other like people and trucks there who may be able to help you. you will have to also search for wheel cyl kits and such as for those vehicles it is more economical to rebuild yourself. you will need a new diaphram for the hydrovac which the bigger trucks used

No offense brother, but I would just head up there with a hand full of 5/16" and 1/4" tubing, a flaring tool and a good tubing bender. Bring some fittings for both sizes and knock it out. You can always take back what you don't use.

If you're trying to avoid multiple trips to a hardware store, good luck my friend on a project like that you're never going to have everything you need. There are just too many variables. School buses are anything but standard. Everything on them is custom built.

From where the truck is, how far is it to the nearest auto parts, farm equipment supply, or hardware store?

About 10 miles to a rural napa. I was thinking about grabbing some 1/4 and 5/16 line and doing just that. I just wanted a good idea so I would have enough. Also didn't know if any other sizes were used.

3/16" is used on some of the smaller trucks. I wouldn't have a clue about any of the 60 series. Is it at least possible that a 60 series could have air brakes?

Well, all you can do is all you can do I guess! I wish you well with your repair - may the "bus gods" smile upon you, brother!

In the meantime, take lots of pictures for us and remember we're always here if you need us!
