The 4 bolt main block was in 69. More than likely a 350.

CE068842

CE - Chevrolet Engine
0 - Year of Manufacture
68842 - Unit serial number (Note-Range 50000-79999 used by Tonawanda Engine Plant) If more were made they used a letter suffix, e.g. A68842, B68842 etc.

The "CE" coding was invented circa 1968 for short blocks that were replacements under the 5/50 Powertrain Warranty program that was in effect from 1967-1970. When the liability for replacement of 5/50 warranty engines expired in 1975, I'm sure there were a lot of "CE" short blocks in inventory, and those went into the parts system as out-of-warranty and over-the-counter short blocks. "CE" blocks were only available as short blocks (block, crank, rods, pistons) or as "fitted blocks" (block with ringed pistons fitted, no crank or rods). Good parts from the damaged engine were reused. The short block were approved generic replacements and nothing can be determined from the unit serial number what exactly was installed. The dealer went to the parts book and ordered what Chevrolet said was the correct replacement part for that engine option.
