There is sound deadener and sound absorber. Not sure which one you need.
For sound deadener, it's hard to beat Dynamat.
A little pricey however. As an alternative I used Noico 80 mil in my trunk to improve sound system quality and isolate noise from the electric fuel pump.

Do a search for FatMat Self-Adhesive Butyl MegaMat Sound Deadener, 70 mil Thick,on Amazon.
It is what I used and it worked great.
Look for the one with the aluminum top and it also acts as a heat shield.

I'll do that it looks like you did a great job on your 55 chevy, did you have to use a heat gun on it or not. sorry for the slow response, went hunting I should have stayed home and worked on the car.

The material is pretty pliable so no need for a heat gun.

Hello;
I must ad a word of caution on installation of some of these foil sticky (butyl) sound insulations!!
The foil edges are sharp as razor blades! Be careful with handling that stuff! Or especially removing same!!!!
Don't ask me how I know!

Hello;
Sorry, Im in California
Also, the "jute" style pad also works really good for noise and heat and is very cheap! But it takes a bit more effort to get it to "lay down" really good! (lots of contact spray needed}
It is easier to use the foil style sound deadner as it already has a stickey side!
