I have a 2008 Tahoe and it is showing “service air bag” on the dash. I have used two different scanners that are capable of scanning airbag sensors or as GM calls it, the SDM, how ever it is unable to communicate with it. I have checked both fuses under the hood, not blown and have power. I have checked for loose and/or lost connections under both seats, all seem fine. I was able to locate the SDM under the drivers seat, doesn’t appear to have been wet or corroded. I am at a lose and don’t know of what else I can do. Please help.

The vehicle was in idle for about 30 minuets, then it just came on. To my knowledge, there was no real reason why it came on. But I am still unable to communicate with the SDM.

check the impact sensor at the bottom of the radiator support.
Very common. Gets water in it and breaks.
99% of this era airbag lights I have resolved by replacing that sensor.
Square. 2 pin plug. held in place by a torx screw
What kind of scantools are you using?
Are all of the other modules showing up on the list?
May be a water issue with the module, or a wire to it.

Should start off by checking to see that there is power and ground at the SDM module. It's not uncommon to see broken wires in the floor. Have you tried talking to any other modules in the truck? ABS, BCM, Occupant Classification Module?
Check AlldataDIY.com too for repair info, most is copied right from GM.
