Hello. I thought everything was good on my newly purchased truck. Now I'm having a issue I hope you could steer me in the right direction.
Previous issue I first tackled - fuel gauge pegged when ignition switched to on and ammeter read discharge. Truck would not run.
Remedy - I bypassed voltage reducer and everything worked as normal. Truck ran.
New issue - fuel gauge pegs again when ignition switched to on. Truck starts and rapidly increases rpm uncontrollably.
Where should I start first? Could a electrical short make the engine race?
How do I tell if the alternator is internally regulated or externally? If it is internally, could I get rid of the voltage regulator? Thanks.
