Just picked this one up, not going to paint it, just get it running and re upholster the interior.

It doesn't have the original 216, but there is a 261 that came with it.

Does it still have the torque tube rear end?
261 is a good find.

Thanks, yes it has the original torque tube. I have a newer 3 speed manual from a 64 Impala that I plan on installing to get rid of the torque tube. Hopefully it will be a straight forward swap.

To complete your conversion find a '55-'57 Chevy rear end. To center the wheels in the rear fender openings you'll have to drill spring locating holes in the rear end's mounting pads 1-3/4 inches towards the front. Use the '55-7 U-bolts and lower shock plates and you should be good to go. The stock springs are narrower than the '55-7 but it will work. That's what I did on my '46 years ago before I switched to the wider leaf springs from Chassis Engineering. In fact if I remember correctly, a '57 Chevy 4-door driveshaft fit right in.

Awesome, thanks for the info!

I will concentrate on getting it on the road first then tackle these mods as time permits.
