I'm trying to sell my 67 panel truck here in Australia (see classifieds) and I've just had some guy call me and complain that it has barn doors, not tail gates. I said I thought they all did but maybe the tailgates were a factory option.
I think the Suburban came with either so maybe it was the same with the Panel.
Anyone know?

I have not seen a panel truck with the tailgate, but it would not surprise me if the option were available.

Does your panel truck have the anchor points for a tailgate setup?

I don't know about Australia but around here panel trucks are pretty rare.

You would think that barn doors would be pretty useful on a panel truck!

Hi Jim
the side pillars have a flat area that might be where tailgate latches could mount but the floor has had a steel plate fitted across the back except for where the door latches hook on so I can't tell if there was an area for hinges. Maybe it was an option or maybe GM just used the same pillar on the Suburban?
You're right about the rarity. Until I'm proven wrong, I'll go with the legend that it's the only one in Australia. Apparently there were 2, used by the US Navy in Western Australia at a base in Exmouth . The other one is said to have gone to Queensland and eventually wrecked, but, who knows may have survived.
