Hi all, the location where I've read that my TCCM should be which is behind the kick plate on the passenger side has an air bag module in it. I've taken off the plastics under the dash and pulled the dash cover but no TCCM unit anywhere to be seen. This truck says 1996 on the title and 1995 on the door but from what I've read they should be the same unit in the same place. Does anyone know where it might be hiding?

What is the build date? Probably late '95 and sold as a 96. Does the hood sticker say ODBII certified?

What code does it have?

Yes the build date is late 95 sold as a 96 and it does say odbc2 certified. I had two codes. A two blink code for the shift motor which I was able to clear after the shift motor was changed and a one blink for the TCCM which will not clear.

I found a post that said that in some of the older S10s the TCCM was located above the left kick plate but there's nothing there.

Send me an email. I'll send a PDF file. I can't make out where the modulem is located. It shows a dash pointing to the center under the windshield. The file is scanned from a 96 factory manual. It also says how to clear the TCCM.

Turn off ignition
Remove the 20 amp T/L CTSY fuse
Wait at least 2 min and 30 seconds
Replace fuse
Cycle the ignition switch on/off five times

Codes are listed and what to do for each one.

Thanks gchemist, I tried emailing you but the email bounced back but you gave me the idea of looking in the facatory repair manual so I looked on line and found one at this location. https://cardiagn.com/1996-97-chevrolet-s10 -pickup-...

It says what you said that the TCCM for the 96 and 97 are under the dash, top center. I can't think of a worse place to get to but it's good to know where it is, thanks.

Thank you but the email problem could be on my side.. I couldn't send to your other email either. I found the TCCM though. I took everything off of the dash that I could without removing the dash itself and fount it tucked up behind the ashtray. Hope this helps someone else down the road. I've been searching posts for a week and haven't seen a single one that said "look behind the ashtray". Your info for center of the dash was spot on though. Thanks again.
