Hi guys,

I have a 2009, Silverado Ext Cab w/power door locks.

The driver's front lock would not always lock or open with the fob or shifting in drive, etc.

I got a lock / latch assy from Rock Auto, installed it and it worked until I got the door back together, started to lower the window and the window stopped.

I took the panel off again and found that I had both the inside handle cable and the wiring harness to the switch / latch assy crossing below the window, hindering the window when going down.

I moved them to the right place and quickly tried the remote fob and the lock would not do anything. I tried the lock switch on the arm rest, same thing. No worky.

Took it back out (at least I did not have the door panel all back on yet) and saw that there were 2 wires on the latch / switch harness plug itself that had become loose. Not pulled completely out, but not seated tightly either. It must have been from either the window pulling on them or the harness the first time I tried it or maybe I or my friend knocked them loose as we handled it. We messed a bit with them and thought we had re-seated them.

Question is:

When I hit "lock" on either the fob or the arm rest, the security "lock" icon comes on in the dash display. But when I hit the unlock button in either, the security lock icon goes out.

Neither driver or pass side locks do what they should. They both make low a click and look like they attempt to move when I hit the lock or unlock button, but they do not move enough to either fully lock or unlock the door. And the auto lock or unlock does not move them when I shift out of park etc. either.

All I can think of is that the wires that came loose got damaged by us trying to re-seat them. So I would need the drivers side door harness (easier for me to do, rather than trying to take ends off, solder or crimp ends on and again re-seat.)

But, with the security icon coming on I also thought that maybe the computer had thought that someone was trying to get in and possibly shut the electric lock off???? Is it something I could maybe reset?

I probably know that the answer would be "no".

The truck starts, runs ok and the door locks work manually.

Anything other that a new harness I should be looking at or for?

Did you try to RELEARN REMOTE KEY already??

Hi and yes.

I did that this morning and I assume all went the way it should (no errors,all the other settings were there, etc), but it did not help the locks themselves.

I did that after removing the positive cable for about an hour and re-attaching, then I chose relearn remote key

Here is the outcome:

I ordered a GM door wiring harness.

Took another look at the plug on the old one and confirmed that the 2 wires that were dislodged had internal breakage right at the inserted blade end that fit in the plastic plug itself.

I took out the old harness, put in the new and tried it.

Still no lock, but it attempted to unlock.

Then a light bulb came on in my head that made me check fuses.

I found number 11 Fuse labeled "Power Door Lock 2 (Lock Feature)" was blown.

It must have done so after or when the wires broke at the terminal end.

It is a 15 amp fuse.

Put a new fuse in place and it works like new.

I refuse to tell anyone that I had to take the door panel back off twice after the repair. Once to re-attach the door handle cable at the door latch end. (almost impossible to come off on it's own, but it did) and the second time I could not find my small flashlight I was using. Yup, I found it lying in the bottom of the door. So let's keep this between you and I, ok?

So, mission accomplished and trouble fixed.

Now that you mention it I have had to do more than a few door harnesses on 2007-2009 GM vehicles.
I must say they are pretty cheaply made.
Pin and broken wire issues being the cause of issues.
