We have a Malibu 2002 6cyl that has started normally, run for half hour or more, stopped running while driving on the highway at high speed! Turned to N, cranked back up. Sometimes the lights/gauges don't come on when the car is turned on, turning off and on and waiting a few moments the dash will light up and it will crank and start. This does not seem to be the anti theft system that is all over youtube, as the light does not blink but is steady. Also the dash totally not coming to life when the key is turned every time, only some times, I am wondering if there is a connection problem in the ignition. We are trying right now to see if the anti theft solution works, we are on attempt 3. We read somewhere there is a recall on the ignitions, is that true and how do we find out? Thanks for any attention.

Welcome to AF. Google for problems or recalls relative to what you think is wrong. Sounds like it could be the ignition switch, not the key cylinder, but the actual electrical component. Still would be somewhat guess work without a thorough diagnosis.
