Hello Ray, I lost the original thread. But I wanted to use an aftermarket tilt column. The one I bought has a standard directional signal handle. No ignition key, and no built in wiper control switch or cruise. And I really want to use a dash mounted switch for simplicty. But am having trouble geting the whole thing wired. I have changed over to a simple on/off ign. switch and push button starter. This street rod is going to be old style stuff. No EFI, No elec. ignition, no computers on-board. I know I am old fashioned and am missing out on some things, but there is a beauty to nostalgia.

Ok, now I think I understand your situation better.

In that case, your best place to start would be to get a stock wiring diagram for the motor you are using. That should show you what external connections are needed for each wire at the switch in order for the motor to run.

Then you would need to scope out the switch you want to use. That is, use a multimeter or continuity tester to find out which contacts are connected together internally for each position of the switch. This process will present the least risk of damage when you want to connect two components which were not originally intended to be used together.

Ray

Those who choose an automatic transmission want transportation. Those who choose a manual transmission want to drive.
