Hi all, I've been reading the other posts on the forum about troubleshooting 4x4 problems but didn't see any about what to do if the codes won't clear out of the TCCM. So I bought the truck from a guy who said he'd replaced the encoder motor but it still will only go into 4 lo and not 4 hi and sure enough the motor looks new but I read that you still need to clear the codes after replacing the motor so the first thing I did was ground out pin 13 on the computer terminal to see if it was still throwing the "blink twice" code and sure enough it is. I disconnected the battery for about a half hour and then did the reset by turning the key on off 5 times and rechecked but it's still giving the code. I then disconnected the TCCM and the battery at the same time but same results. Is there some other way to clear the code? Or would maybe a short between the TCCM and the encoder motor cause this? Also, I read that after connecting the battery that you should wait for the dash switch lights to light up before doing the 5 key turn thing but my lights won't light up unless I start the motor. Is this right or doesn't it matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not a clue...have you considered calling a transmission shop and asking them?

Thank you for the suggestion and I may consider talking to a mechanic at the dealership after I know all I can know about what the problem is but my guess is that there is more knowlage on this forum then in ten dealerships.

Googling it I found you take the tccm fuse out
Turn the key on then off
Put the fuse back in
Turn the key on and wait for the tcase switch lights to cycle and stop
Then repeat 5 times

Thanks SleeperSS, that worked. I thought I had good googling skills but you are the king. It's now throwing a one blink code at me which won't go away but that is actually what I would expect to happen if the module is bad so I guess it's time to google up a replacement.
