I have a 1970 Impala with drum brakes all around. I don't want to break the bank and convert over to disc brakes. So I want to just put a power brake booster on there. I'm at a crossroad because it seems like all these kits fit for every car but the 1970 model which is a pain in the censored anyways for parts. I bought a 8'dual booster which does not line up so I'd have to drill into the firewall and even then I'm not sure because with the brackets it's super long in length. Then there is a 9' dual that lines up perfectly but it's to round so it interferes with the wiper motor. It can't be this hard to get power brakes on this impala since it was an option that year. There is just no space under the hood for this model. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hopefully somebody here will know but you could also try phoning The Right Stuff Detailing. They sell individual brackets and boosters and generally have very good information of their website if you want to start by looking before calling.

Why not just use the factory brake booster for drum brakes?

because I have yet to find one that fits correctly all the aftermarket stuff is off the factory ones are 9 in....all the 9in ones are too big and get in the way of the wiper motor.

Might be an idea to start by listing the measurements for the mounting holes.

Also, the stock unit, which is a single diaphragm 11" unit, should bolt right up.

Also, if you're trying aftermarket kits, don't use one with brackets. The booster in the fullsize Chev's should mount flush to the firewall.

Instead of looking for aftermarket stuff just go into almost any auto parts store & get a 1970 replacement booster. Or I just looked at the Summit website and they had a bunch of different sizes including 1 that was listed at 11" with an angled mounting bracket #SUM-760165. They also had 1 that looks original that mounts directly to the firewall without a bracket a Cardone #54-71101. Not sure whether a 70 booster had an angle mount bracket or not.
