today I cleaned the bat terminals, the ground cable at the alt. and added a new #10 strap from the bat.- to the body. and I cleaned the ground wire which fasten to the emergency brake bracket.

seems that the dome lite is some brighter. temp gauge now only goes a bit above the cold line with the key off, and goes no farther. the temp. needle no longer waivers when the turn signals are flashing. the Volt meter no longer drops way down. so some progress.

however I did notice that the door jamb lite switch gets hot, I mean hot enuf you dont want to hold on to it! I am sure this is either a ground problem somewhere or a feedback problem.
I am at a loss as to what to do next.
any ideas?

Does your dome light work normally on the door switch? Does the switch get hot all the time or only when the dome light is on?

Those who choose an automatic transmission want transportation. Those who choose a manual transmission want to drive.

If it gets hot, body grounds are probably still not good enough. Replace the door switch. Cheap fix.

I pulled a different DJ switch from a truck at the wrecking yard. I wire brushed the contact portion [where the 2 parts separate]. left the door open for 1/2 hour. seems not to get hot [how do you tell when the air temp is 112!!!]. the temp. gauge seems to work correctly now and the dome lites/courtesy lite both seem brighter.
maybe another problem resolved.
