This came up on my family page today on Facebook.
one of my cousins mentioned my dad's middle name in a list of dad's brothers and sisters.13 of them, dad was the youngest.
It was the first time I've ever seen his middle name used.EVER!
He hated it and only used his initial. He even had me put just his initial on his gravestone.
I'm the same about mine.
Seems now-a-days people, especially women like to use all the names they can put together!
Just wondering how Ya'll feel about your middle name?
Mike.

I use a shortened version of my middle name, I was named after my dad and hate the name, he did not like it either as he was known as "George" which was made up.

Mine's Throckmorton; but seriously, it's far worse than that! I will say my actual initials are LSD, as are my wifes. In high school, I was a real straight laced sort of guy; when my initials, "LSD" came to light, kids started calling me "Acid". Got some looks for a while, and thankfully it was short lived. Why do parents torture their kids with such awful names? "My name is Sue, how do you do, know you're gonna' die!"
I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

I gotta love my middle name, Lee, cause my first name sucks. I was named after my mom's dad and even he hated his name. Can you imagine anyone giving their kid the name Lowery?

For 34 years, I did not have a middle NAME just the letter B Larry B Mauldin My dad was Oran B Mauldin, so I did inherit the middle and last names. When I married in 1976, I changed the B to Browning which was my wife's middle name and her father's mother's last name. Talk about points earned!

My middle name was my Moms maiden name, which is very close to the last name of a pair of twin hockey players who play for the Vancouver Canucks. Same pronounceation and spelling, just a different first letter.

In memory of Mike McVeigh, the Mad Springwhacker.

Some people in my wife's family do the mothers maiden name as the middle name thing. I wouldn't have minded that since it was Hurst. My middle name is my godfathers last name, Barry. I don't love it but I don't hate it either. I was called JB as a kid, but just go by Jay now, which is actually just my first initial. My given first name is Joseph, which was my dads first name as well as my godfathers.

Funny thing, I worked with a guy named Jay too and he wanted to avoid confusion and asked me what my middle name is. I told him and he said that was funny because Jay was his middle name, his real first name is Barry. Also my brother is Jon Marc and went to high school with a guy named Mark John.

Jay

Many of you will probably remember the soloist who traveled with Billy Graham around the world. George Beverly Shea. Rumor has it that Billy called him Bev.

Mine is Brisbane. Its an old family name, which my dad wanted to be my first name, but my mother put her foot down. I hated it for most of my life, but am more or less indifferent to it. I think my dad was trying to get even with his parents, his middle name was Coutts, and my uncle's was Farquharson! (both old fashioned Scottish clan names) Both my aunt's middle names were Estella and Lenore, and they hated them too!
