Donny,

A few times when turning off my 56 I've accidentally turned the key counterclockwise to the LOCK position on the ignition switch. The engine has continued to run. Is this normal? Thanks

You have to turn it to OFF first, then lock, especially if it is a replacement switch

Donny,

Is this an issue with replacement switches? Have checked Ignition Switch and it is wired correctly. When I turn the switch to off and then to lock it works as designed and engine shuts off.

Not 100% sure, just know that I have run into the same problem myself. Could have something to do with the fact that there is no true accessory position, and as such, when the rotor in the alternator is spinning and backfeeding 12 volts to the switch, won't allow the car to shut off.
