My '02 van the horn worked fine until it got super cold out, then it just quit when it was regularly below freezing for a while. Nothing when you hit the button. One time it did work going down the road, but quit within a few minutes. Well, it had passed inspection so I figured when it warms up I'll have to figure out what's not working and change it.

I happened to check it again once it finally got somewhat warm and it works again.

What's going on here? The horns themselves, maybe have water in them (they're down in on the inner fender below the master cylinder), or the relay has issues? Maybe there's even no way to check until it gets cold again.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, criticize it on the internet.

...likely just build up of corrosion on contacts. You can pull it apart and clean them...or, just really push/hit the horn hard & it'll blow. (Mine didn't blow for years & I dreaded having the inspection, but the inspection station always "made" it blow by pushing super hard. Then, I finally got a "roundtoit" & cleaned the contacts.) Mc

Mine will work in some positions and not in other positions. If I am driving and want to honk the horn, I have to push the button and then jerk the steering wheel to the right a little.

Not recommended for high speed traffic

If it was the horn button contact in the steering wheel/column, I have to presume after driving it for two hours with the heat on it would be warm enough to work. But that doesn't seem to matter.

Slightly off topic, but I had a Camaro once that you could barely hear the horn. The front clip had been pieced together, and the previous owner had installed the horn facing up. It was full of water! Check yours, maybe it's wet, and frozen.

I never delved into it, but my '99 Silverado did the same thing. When it got really cold the horn wouldn't work, but it only did it a couple of winters and now works regularly. I am a fairly frequent horn user, so I know when it is or isn't working.
