So I have a 63 impala 409 ss and found out I have a '82 BW super t10 4 speed (think from a camaro)in it. the original shifter body has fallen apart and the linkage is mostly missing. Have had a hack job of a hurst shifter made which doesn't work at all in it now. Also the shifter body needs to sit more to the drivers side when fully installed in car.

I've searched everywhere on the internet for a 82 bw super t10 shifter and most importantly the linkage and installation kit to no avail! The closest thing I found was a shifter and linkage for a Richmond Gear super t10 that looked right but closer look into it the shifter body holes are opposite. Mine is 2 on top 1 on bottom theirs is 1 on top 2 on bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I realize you are on the other side of the country from these people, but you might google search 'anaheim gear' in Anaheim, California, all things stick shift related. If they can't help you, they probably can direct you to someone whom can.

Hurst shifters were, for the most part, were generic, they 'adapted' to the different transmissions via a series of adapter plates. Stock shifters usually were made by G.M.'s "Inland Gear Division", and usually bolted directly to the tail housing. No reason someone can't make a spacer device if needed.

GM used that trans in that era Corvette. Maybe find a Corvette shifter or something like this.

Pontiac also used that tranny. I had one in a 78 TA

Camaro and Firebird with the TORQUE-ARM that bolts to the extension housing; that's why you're having an issue finding a shifter to bolt to the extension housing. Either a different extension housing, or fab up a "custom" bracket for the shifter. There's a trans on E-Bay with a bracket someone made; you could possibly use the Hurst bracket that bolts to the transmission mount, and also uses a U-bolt around the end of the housing (78-74 Nova's, 67-69 Camaro's with 4 speed Muncies/Saginaws-the mount is somewhat "universal" however). I went back onto E-Bay, but the trans with the "homemade" shifter bracket is no longer listed. But, there are several of the "universal" mounts that bolt to the transmission mount, and have a U-bolt that wraps around the end of the trans. Prices range from $35.00 to $100.00, and there are 5 of them: E-Bay item number 281848929096, 401115040257, 401252099555, 391653594856, and 172031017825. Only one has the U-bolt still. The plate sandwiches between the extension housing and the trans mount, then the U-Bolt wraps around the end, and tightened. Virtually any Hurst 4 speed tower assembly will then bolt to that bracket; you then need the correct rod and arm kit. That help any? The Hurst shifter on my Super T-10 was pieced together. I started with the MOPAR application Hurst Pistol Grip. I removed the Pistol Grip lever, and drilled 2 holes to make it into a bolt-on stick (was a push-in), and I gave the Pistol Grip to a MOPAR friend. Bought a used mount for the T-10, looked through the Hurst spare parts bin at a local speed shop to get the rods and arms. Looks and works fine, and only cost me about $25.00 for everything, course this was 20 years ago also. Good luck. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

Found another possibility on E-Bay for you; a pretty good deal to boot. Item # 332175149446; it is the universal mount AND a tower assembly for $175.00. I am Butch/56sedandelivery.

that trans gear ratio is one of the very low 3.40 [something] they do not shift well at high speeds, and also if you have anything above a 3.55 rear gear, you are not going to move very far before it is time to shift into 2nd. those low trans ratios were made for Firebirds with a 2.50 rear, to get them moving and then get good gas mileage.
