Hey All, just to go back memory lane... when did you purchase you chevy, and how much did you pay for it ? and how much would you sell it for today if you would? the before and after pics would be nice to see...

here's mine, purchased in mid 80's for 3k, a daily original driver came with a fresh paint job, probably 99$ one...loll, that is still on the car today.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtjdHaMeiiQ

so the way i see it, having it for over 30 enjoyable years, just the cost of insurance and registration, sure was not an investment if i sell it for 20k... loll. I think sentimental value has no price tag.

Well hey Space66, hopefully more will join in but I will post a couple of shots. I bought my '65 (and a garage full of parts) 3 years ago for $5000. (Canadian) from a local guy, it had been in his 2 car garage for 30 years until moving forced him to sell.
I had contemplated selling it at one point, but like most stupid thoughts...it passed. It was appraised at $19,400. last year. I'm guessing I've got at least that much into it already and I'm far from finished. A few before and after pics included.

WOW! Factory Slate interior. So rare. Only ever seen 1 other one. What was the original exterior color? Glacier Gray perhaps?

Bought mine in '85 for $4000. Can't find any pics from back then, but here's a current one. It's insured for $40,000.

33k in 2011.
Matching#, all-original down to everything made of rubber and brake pads...even some fluids.
Dumped another 30k into it to change/rebuild everything between front grille and rear bumper, now she drives good. New wiring this winter.

Sorry Donny, afraid that's just a bad picture. Interior color was just your basic blue (831) that every Chevy I've ever owned seemed to have had.
To Space66, gotta love it...they are all rag tops so far. Anybody have one with a roof on it? LOL

I pulled mine out of a dairy farmers field 5yrs ago. No motor or trans (Born a 283/Saginaw, now has 350/PG). I paid $800.00 for it (in payments). Body WAS incredibly straight on it until he plowed his tractor into the passenger side quarter while I was still making payments on it (gave NO deduction on it either).
Currently, it is running VERY strong, but doesn't move under its own power yet (maybe THIS year...she's VERY close), has no interior in it yet aside from some BMW bucket seats, has been converted to power brake and power steering, upgraded the front drum brakes to C3 disc (and am piecing together disc for the rear as well with all period correct parts for day 2 originality).

Documentation says only 1,482 produced for sale in Canada, and was born Black on Red.

Ok, you asked.
$CAD 32K in May 2014 already restored.
Knew nothing about these cars when I bought it, but since then I've learned enough to be able to go over the car and make corrections re authenticity with a lot of NOS, original, or quality repro parts.
Still lots more work to do like changing the body color front valence to argent, and painting the trunk body color (an Oshawa attribute), and getting a new top with the correct Duplate Canada glass window to name a few things.
Didn't anticipate a list of purchases like this buying a restored car, and I still have a WTB list.
I have all the receipts, but haven't tallied them up.
Kind of like when on vacation, you don't want to track costs because it just puts a damper on the fun

Alternator has wrong finish on it. Should be shiny...sorta. trunk mat on Canadian cars was herring bone pattern cloth with foam rubber backing very thin. Looks nice though. Will be much better with the valance the correct color. Brake booster needs bendix Canada decal. Water transfer type decal. Red and gold and black I think. Been awhile since I have seen one still intact. Couple of my cars have them still but hard to read and almost gone.

Thanks Rob, the trunk mat now is just the convertible shaped version of the full mat that was in the car when I bought it.
I think we talked about Canadian vs US mat patterns and construction once before, but I'm not aware of a Canadian version reproduction so it is what it is.
If you can get a pic of that booster ink stamp that would be great.
I can have a graphics company scale it and reproduce it.
Speaking of paint, I didn't mention before that the engine bay is too glossy, but that correction will have to wait for the next restoration.

It's called evening orchid for Chevrolet, a 1965 only GM color with different names depending on division I've been told.

The pic with the fuel trucks in the background is the one Rob texted me a couple of years ago.
I went out to see his cars just after I bought mine and was overwhelmed by all the things he knew about them.
There are a number of experts on US built cars, but I don't think anybody knows more about both Canadian and US 65/66 cars, and the differences between them than Rob does.

You mean the one with those trunk mounted factory cabin exhaust ducts? I think those were for dealer installed add-on AC.

I don't know the history behind the comment but when I read what you wrote I was wondering if that car was now restored?

I like Bowtie's collection. It would be cool just to see the list of original colors by year in the collection. Makes me think I don't have enough cars

I didn't see that tread.wow! wonderful stories...

it's funny how these cars had no value in those days... in the 80's we use to pick up 70's muscle cars for $100-300 and drive them as winter beaters. i think life was cheaper, so we could afford a car with 150$/week pay.

I have a 65 4-door hardtop my dad gave it to me around 15 years ago he had it for a few years was black when he got it. I'm in the process of stripping the layers of paint off to go back with the original color of evening orchid.
