hey all,
i got my original upper grill damaged in a hit & run...any one tried ,is it possible to make a repair and is it worth it? it's dented and cracked on the right wide section. i will have to drill out the old rivets to get it out, so do they make replacement rivets, part#? and where can i get them.thanks

Sorry to hear that news.
If the rivet part numbers are called out in the assembly manual, then you could look up that number in the amk products pdf glossary to see if they have a number for it.
At any rate, you'll want an all aluminum rivet for ease of installation.
Here's a vid about aluminum trim repair:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4t8n9dTLFEQ
They have quite a few different videos.
Good luck, too much of an artful skill for me.

The grill is bright dip anodized. You can't fix it without stripping off the anodizing first and then after repairing it will have to be polished and sent out for bright dip anodizing (good luck finding a place that actually DOES bright dip) or it can be clear coated or chromed. Or try to find a good used replacement. The reproduction lower grill pieces are chromed aluminum. Not sure if an actual upper grill is available yet.

These aren't the original rivets are they?
I'm hoping they're just some service replacement distant cousin of the assembly line version.
PITA tool required to install these.
This is the same type of rivet that secures the clamp to the frame for the positive battery cable.

The original grill is aluminum, but I've seen stainless steel custom grills that are very nice for a restomod car on ebay on occasion.
Nothing right now though.

That Grille on Classics website has been there for years and it never has been available.

I have a completely restored upper, lower, and H/L bezels that have been re-anodized as original and completely detail painted ready to install. If you're interested, send me a private message and I'll get you some photos and pricing. Can't do that here in the forums.

You can replace them with nuts and bolts. They sell them specifically to replace the rivets.

There are two folks I can recommend for you. Last one I had done was about 550-600 to give you an idea.
