Up till now I had been using a Tractor Supply Farm Hand welder. I just picked up a Lincoln 125 and I am testing it out. Now I'll be the first to say I ain't no welder. I was trying to weld in this patch panel. I drilled 3/16" holes and started, really thought I was doing good, both of these two welds did not stick. They came right off when I removed the clamps. From the pictures what looks wrong? Too fast wire speed, no heat, too much heat? Any tips?

Going to guess part of the reason was the one side was not cleaned enough.

This is the back side of the weld.

the surface to be welded must be pre-cleaned with a wire brush,or disc grinder,
down to clean rust free,
degreased, paint free, bare metal,
that looks like you tried FLUX CORE welding ,
not MIG with a gas shield??
and used not enough amps, and/or the wire to mig torch distance was sticking out too far.

honestly I think he was correct, in that with a PROPERLY ADJUSTED MIG WELDER with the correct amps, wire , wire speed and gas shield flow rates the actual welding process is just not very difficult if your dealing with clean grease free metal surfaces, especially if your welding surface is not above you.
like most things, some time spent researching the subject and reading related books and watching a few related videos will tend to help out the newer guys considerably

WELL? what have you tried and what were the results of changes made?
no one learns to weld INSTANTLY, its a learning process, I,ve been welding for 47 years and I still learn new tips and tricks constantly

Looks like your amps were pretty close to correct, but I think you wire speed may have been too fast and maybe your technique was off. You basically filled the hole in the top panel. Obviously welding to clean metal goes a long way to making a good weld. I always clean the bottom panel and get the metal around the hole in the top panel clean and down to bare metal. I then strike the arc inside the hole work my way around to the rim of the hole in the top panel. This ensures the bottom layer is getting hot enough for the weld to penetrate and that the weld will be hot enough to melt the top layer and fuse the two together.
