Hi, I have a 99 european spec v6 3.8 DIS Camaro which has recently developed a misfire on examination it seems one coil pack is failing to fire. changed out this coil and swopped them around but the third coil always fails to fire. I know all 3 coils are good. Any ideas would be welcome. No American car service centres here!!
First time the car has let me down since 2003

What about a cam or crank sensor, Tony?
Seems that if you moved coil packs but the same one is still misfiring, it would be one of those two. I haven't had the pleasure of driving a GM 3.8 in over 20 years, so I'm reaching for straws here.

I was thinking along the same lines, I will try to find someone with a diagnostic unit to see if any faults show up before going down the route of getting sensors shipped..very few stores here have any stock and they then charge the earth for the pleasure of robbing you! thanks for reply!

How did you determine it was a coil pack. The coils mount on an ICM. Link to ICM. That could cause one cylinder failure.

I swopped coil packs around in turn, and the same position failed every time, the rear most coil.
No spark generated from either tower in that position. Have now removed and done visual examination of ICM no corrosion visible but am trying to find a replacement in the UK at reasonable cost as it seems most likely cause of problem. so far cheapest in uk has been $190 yes dollars..so still looking!

Are you sure power is getting to that coil position?
