We are getting ready for paint on a 27 Coupe we are restoring. The drivers side door hinges/wood was in rough shape but we were able to drill and plug the screw holes and not the hinges are nice and tight. We were hoping that the hinge fix would have also corrected the large (1/2 inch) gap along the lower half of the rear edge of the door. the top half fits perfect. But just below the belt line the door begins to stick out past the body. Any ideas on how to fix this? photos (2)

the wood is still in good shape?
one way that you may be able to do it is with an old trick that I was shown 50 years ago on my 32 when my frt door bowed out a bit. it was pulled in with a tourniquet and a stick. nowadays you have to go out and buy a ratcheting strap( simple ways don't work any more; more than likely not computer approved. run some plumbers hanger strap up the inside of the door. fasten it down from the ends towards the middle. the copper is more plyable but more expensive. that should hold it in place. you should be able to upholster over it and hide it
