W have a 1999 blazer, we drove down to florida from indiana. All was well untill we had a slow down and it began to hard shift 2n-3rd. I stopped off and checked fluid, looked low so i topped it off. I gassed up and hit the road and it shifted perfect. Then yesterday after an hr drive it began tp shift hard 1st to 2nd. After we left the beach it was fine.

It seems like it resets once we shut it down. I read some about an accumulator valvr issue?

Ive gotta head back to indiana saturday.

How many miles are on it? Check for pending codes. Transmissions are hard to diagnose with out a special scanner and checking oil pressures.

Is it a 4x4?

Is the 4x4 completely disengaged?

Go to any parts stores. They will scan it for free. You can buy a odbii port plugin for less than $25 for a good one. Then use a free app to read codes. Both Bluetooth and iPhone plugins are available.

I keep one of these in my console. https://www.google.com/search?q=elm21&cl ient=t...

Work great for trips or scanning when needed. I use a paid app for code reading or live data streaming.

Thanks for the advice! when i got home i read my codes and nothing came up.

The whole way up to indiana it did not shift hard once!

I decided to go ahead and change my fluid, i am not sure which brand would be best, Pennzoil, Havoline, Valvoline or store brand?

I figure anything has to be better than whats in it now!

Most Dextron III oils will work. I stick to the same one in my vehicles, Castrol.

I know its an old thread, but my 2000 Silverado has done this for years. Tranny shop told me they can solve by removing a plastic check valve that hangs up when hot and then releases when it cools down or.... replacing it with a stainless one.
