A buddy of mine recently pulled his 1982 Corvette Collectors Edition out storage after sitting about 10 years or more.Back in the day he would buy his motor oil off the shelf at discount stores.A lot has changed in motor oils since he last drove the car.The newer oils have less zinc now and he has a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft and he is concerned about flattening out a lobe. The car also has a catalytic converter and is stock. So which oil can he run that has enough zinc to protect the camshaft and not plug the catalytic converter. Thanks

Use any of the full synthetic oils for no lubrication problems. I use Mobil 1 or Chevron and my son swears by Royal Purple with their additive. Any way you go it shouldn't be a problem.

Amsoil Z Rod oil. It is formulated for flat tappet cams. I run it in both my flat tappet equipped cars.
