Thank you & yes the dash is from a GTO. I used some of the GTO door panel parts to get my plug made.

That looks awesome! I LOVE the Cadillac-esqu headlights! ! ! I wish I could learn how to do this! I really do. Im a good self learner but also know when I would need instruction. I would love to find one and completely tear it down and and do what you're doing. I hope I can find this thread to keep up with the progress! Good luck!

The headlights are from a 55, i cut the front ofthe 55 fender off and worked it into the 54 fender. The frenched headlight bucket & bezel are from Chevs Of The 40's.

What motivated you to pick the 54 as a platform to build? I've looked at various web sites about the Boosted 54 but don't recall if you talked about it. It's obvious from your work that you could have started with anything and shaped it into whatever you wanted. I've always liked 53/54 Chevy's with there clean lines and looks.

Hey thank you for the props. The 53 & 54's are not as often built into hot rod/resto mod as often as the 55-57. My original plan was to build a 406ci sbc like we used in our dirt track cars and just make it a ratty looking beast. Well that has all clearly changed and now im building a 1,000hp twin turbo car. Im going to be using a lot of the modern technology & crossing boundaries that are sure to upset the tried & true traditional guys.

Thank you, i traveled to some of the biggest events i could get to for about 18 months looking to see if people had implemented any of the ideas i had been kicking around before i put contacted my buddy to get going on the renderings. There are plenty of things on this build that others have done but i will be putting a modern twist on a few areas that will set it apart from most.
Thanks again

I made a mock up of my Ridetech shock wave as it would be inflated at ride height. Then used it to help set up my clearances so as to keep things as tight as possible to allow room for exhaust.

The gas filler has been filled in, and some guys just mount the new filler in the trunk. I didnt want to open my trunk to add fuel so i made a motorized tail light to access my new filler location. check out the link below. More info on the Facebook post.

Thanks man. Are the 49 Buick tails the ones that mount up on top of the fender. damn cool lights.
The actuator is a 4in unit, could have likely used a shorter one using link arms to change the ratio but already had this one.

Yeah they are. They will match the flow of the rounded part of the 50 fender.Just have to peak the top of the fender to match the peak in the light.

For this build i will be using the LSX 376, with just south of 1,000hp with minimal boost, & a 2yr warranty this will be a good starting point. These have made well over the 1,000hp mark so it will be fun to see what it can do.

Have had some questions about my ride height & crossmember. First image is a rolling height about 1" from laying frame. The pictured Progressive Automotive crossmember has been built to be set up for my desired ride height (4" from ground to rocker) & uses the corvette c-4 control arms & spindles. It uses the Ridetech suspension Shockwaves, Accuair valve body, & controlled by Ridecontroler to operate between laying frame, ride height, & speed bumps.

The rear- I narrowed the frame 5" to tuck the 20x10 Intro Wheels wrapped in 285/30/ZR20 Falken Tire , a step notch to gives the Currie Enterprises 9+ rear end room to move through the travel via the RideTech triangulated 4-link & Shockwaves, the Shockwaves have an adjustable rebound to help further dial in the suspension. Air is supplied by 2 AccuAir Suspension tanks mounted under the car, & uses the Accuair valve body & is controlled with my phone using the RideController unit.

James -

More pics, yo. Us newbies need more inspirational and reference material from you old hands.

How did you figure out what you wanted your ride height to be? I saw the picture of the Rally rim on your website...did you just lower the body/frame over that wheel until you had it low enough? I'm strongly leaning towards the PA crossmember like you used and I want to research this project to death before I start cutting anything up.

Also curious about your 4 link setup in the rear.

Thanks,
Nate

1954 2 door - Grandpa's Blue Goose

Plans:
LSx, 4L60E, newer rear axle
Upgraded suspension - Meyer IFS, Vette-based?
Minimal body mods - fill a few seams, stiffen frame - AME style center section, etc.

Nate,
Sorry for the late response. I will have new progress pics up in the next couple of weeks.
I determined my ride height just by dropping it till i liked how it looked and would still clear most road obstacles then built my suspension around that height. The Progressive Automotive cross member was also built around my desired ride height so as to maximize my suspension performance.
The 4link is a RideTech unit.
Regards, James

A modern twist on this old car as far as interior and control/management systems. This will have all of the amenities of a new car wrapped up in a 54 body.

This is the rendering of my 54 engine bay using a twin turbo LSX376 set up. The illustration shows some parts in chrome but it will all be black.

There are so many ways to control our modern features on vehicles. Trunk pop, door pop, accessory lighting, remote start, air suspension, and so many more. Why not combine all of those features into the one device that we all have on hand, our phone. The control system can be either switches or buttons and can all be labeled to suit your needs.

Wow this build is amazing! To modern for me on the interior but it looks awesome! That motor will be killer. Love it!

Thank you. The modern interior really turns some off but I'm shooting for a simple exterior look with all of the amenities of a modern car. I drive my cars so want to roll in comfort.
