Patrick's used to sell an ac & alternator bracket set for our 235s. I don't who the actual manufacturer is off the top of my head. The catalog (page 9) lists the price at 119.95. This bracket set uses the standard single groove crank pulley also.
Hope this helps,

funny you mentioned that. I looked in the catalog-not a good picture of it.
Anybody have a picture of Patricks' bracket?

I don't have a picture but I seem to recall seeing the same setup about 8 or 9 years ago from Alan Grove Components(?). My daughter is 9 already owhich is the only way I remember seeing an ad in one of my older magazines.

You might want to check on that auction site we all know and love. I just bought a universal A/C kit for my OT truck, and saw brackets for the early sixes while I was looking. Not too sure what I'm going to have to do for a bracket; between the SWP/LWP/drivers side/passenger side combos available, mine's not there unless I buy the alternator bracket also. You might take a look on ebay at the brackets that davispeedequip has up for sale. I have these brackets on my 261 and have had for several years. They fit and work really good and they are of the highest quality.

You're right. Good looking set up. The photo in the link below helps understand how they connect. The seller (maker?) says the photo is of his own 235 (55-62).

My AC unit came with brackets from Alan Groves. I had to "rework" them a bit as the fit with my water pump adapter, headers and intake just required it. The brackets themselves are well made. The Alan Groves brackets put the AC compressor above the alternator which makes it a little tight to adjust things.
I looked at the Link 53belair posted and wish I had known of these as it would put the compressor on the other side of the engine. I have always wondered how one might run A/C and a power steering, and with these brackets it looks like it would be possible.

I bought my A/C unit from Rainbow products but the mounting brackets came in a box marked Vintage Air. It is hard to tell from the photo below, but the alternator bracket is a spacer that goes between the block and the thermostat outlet. It holds the alternator in place. You can see the belt for the alternator goes to the a/c compressor which has a dual pulley. It fit and worked great, no problems yet. I'm on my second summer of a/c now.

Davis has been an Inliner for many years and has been working on these bracket for a long time. They fit most applications without modifications. And you have some choices. I have my alternator up on the right side of the engine and my power steering pump up on the left side. The A/C bracket is down on the bottom left side. The reason for that is because I was thinking I might want to put a supercharger on and I wanted to have a short belt from the crank pulley to the supercharger. Because I'm not sure about the supercharger or having A/C I have neither. But, I do have the bracket mounted just in case I do makeup my mind someday.

So how do you run the hoses with the A/C on the bottom? Would I have to run them vertical then OVER the engine to the firewall?
btw: a picture is worth a thousand words

Ran my hoses through the firewall on the driver's side through a bulkhead fitting. Then routed them to the AC unit under the dash. The heater used the same opening as the stock heater valve only used a bulkhead fitting there too.

Here is a photo of the bracket between the thermostat housing and the head. It is hard to see in the photo because it is almost invisible on the engine. It is very simple and foolproof.
Here are some photos of the AC hoses and routing. I removed the fresh air vent tube (it was rusted out on the bottom anyway) and ran the hoses to the condenser thru the front hole. I made a cover for the firewall hole and mounted the fittings on it to pass thru into the interior of the car. Inside I ran the hoses up over the steering column and over to the AC unit. The hoses are not visible under the dash.
Please disregard all the dirt on the fender and under the hood.

maybe go over the thermostat? Or install electric fan and go around the front above pump somehow to route the lines to the passenger side?

From the driver's side it would be a looong route but you could run the lines between the inner fender and the outer fender. Lots of folks do this, even on the passenger side, if they want to "hide" a lot of the clutter. Some even mount the drier in there.

Limited hood clearance doesn't help any.

Geeze, has it been 2yrs since I started this post I still haven't put A/C on my car. I think I want to try to go on the passenger side; for more room and ease of routing hoses. Misses is not happy being hot when riding along.
