I would say 1917 when Chevrolet manufactured the Series D V8 engine with 288 cubic inches, overhead valves, crossflow heads, 55 HP… and it was manufactured 38 years before the small-block Chevrolet engine. I’m not sure if the 1912 T-head sixes had value covers. I’m sure someone on the forum will know.
