Sorry to hear that. I would agree, you should not have a problem driving to the reunion and back.

Sorry, one is upside down. As for solutions, In have a few.

1. Find a donor frame.
2. Use the frame from our other 50. My son is not real keen on driving it next year and it needs just as much work down the road. I could part it out, keep the rolling frame, new radiator and has tank, and some spare parts.
3. Get a 2nd opinion on repairing it.

Thanks Keith. I think I've known this was inevitable, but haven't wanted to think about it. I'll start checking craigslist, etc. for other frames and calculate my losses if I part out the other car.

Well, I think we may have a decision. In talking to my wife and my son, and making a list of financial pros and cons...I think we are going to use the frame off of the 2nd time 50 Chevy and part the rest out. To save time typing it all, here is a photo of the lists. Also to be noted, this will eventually save us $6-10,000 since we wouldn't have to add on to the tiny garage we have. Many of the new parts on his car (gas tank, radiator, disk brakes, dual master, tires, etc. can also go on my car and save more money. I feel like I'm going back on my word to my son 6 years ago, but he really doesn't want to be seen driving it now anyway. He's been backpedaling for several months now. I'm a little bummed, but I think this will be for the best. I'm going to think about it for a little while though. I'm open to input here.

Thanks man! I'm a little worried about trying to take the car to my 30th reunion on July 21st (which has been my goal for a year). The guy that inspected the frame thought it would be ok for one mile and a half drive, but now I'm paranoid that it will snap and ruin all my work. Here is the progress on the "donor frame". Almost down to bare frame in 4 days!

Well, the "donor car" (2nd timer) is torn down and ready for work. That was quick! Here are some pics of the "donations". The frame, drivetrain, new carb, new exhaust, newer tires, white harness (all sorted out again!), brand new radiator, disc brakes, dual master. It's a win win.
