Thanks for the heads up Dave! The last quote I got from them was $275 for my blue dash. They did a great job on my red dash. I had it done through a vendor for much more than that, before I found I could deal direct with Knoch. I just called, and they said they would do mine for $185.{:>) Thanks again Dave!

junky. there's a guy here in houston that has PLENTY. $50 bucks each. I would be glad to put u in contact. u could pay for it...i could go get it, strip it down if u like and then ship it to al knoch if that makes sense. now for me, shipping was like $65....but i didnt really try to get it to be the smallest box. i was over the acceptable total dimensions by a few inches. i think thats what cost me the big buck. but i wasnt gonna cut the box down at that point. i know better now. besides, i have an al knoch box now to ship in....let me know.

That's a really good price. About half what I was told when I called a year ago. Do you remember who you talked to? Did you mention Chevy Talk forum? Maybe I should call again to see if my blue dash would be that cheap. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Yes! I told them about Dave's price and could they do my blue one for that. They said they could do it for $185.
I've still got my box from the red one, checked Parcel Post like I sent it before, and the price online came up to less than $21 from GA to TX. Insurance would be a few $ more. I'm getting mine ready and will try to ship it tomorrow. RB

Red and Dave, thanks guys. I called this morning. The $185 is the price they told me too. Being in Texas I will have to pay sales tax in addition to the freight, but this is still a GREAT deal. Will start cleaning the dash tonight, plus will start looking for a box to ship it in as soon as possible. Really appreciate the heads up on this Dave, as I have been wanting to get the dash redone for over 18 months.

I've got my old pad removed and the metal backing all cleaned. Now I'm just trying to either find a box or make one for shipping it. Hopefully this will happen in the next few days. I'm really excited about finally getting this done. Is parcel post the best way to ship it? Or would UPS or FED-EX be better?

Fortunately I had the 4" x 14" x 66" box I received my red dash in from Knoch a couple of years ago. As I did before, I mailed it this morning USPS Parcel Post with $75 insurance. The weight was just under 10 pounds. The cost was $22.88 from GA to TX. When I checked before, UPS and FEDEX were about twice that, so I didn't even bother to check them this time. The last time I mailed one to Knoch via USPS, it was during the Christmas rush season; and it only took 3 days with USPS Parcel Post.

i started with post office, but by box was bigger than 105 total inches (h + w + l). thus it was like $75 to ship while ups was a bit cheaper. just make sure you total dimensions are less than 105 and post office will be cheaper by far.

Dave, I really appreciated your posting on this. I've been wanting to get mine done for a very long time. However, in the past when I checked it was going to be over $400 to get my core recovered. The $185 Al Knoch told me it would cost to do mine in the blue is amazing. I've got it out of the car, cleaned, and ready to go. I boxed it last night and will get it to the Post Office today or first thing Monday. Will cost me under $20 for shipping and insurance. Now I just need to wait calmly for the 2 weeks or so for it to come back.

Sure hope that you got color samples in advance. I requested color samples for my 1962 dash, and both samples are much too light compared to the original. Glad that I didn't send mine to them. Now, I am waiting for additional color samples to see if they have something that is close..

Oh Wow! Wish I had known that before I mailed mine yesterday. Didn't even know I could get color samples. They never mentioned samples in any of the calls I made to them. They just wanted to know what color my dash was. Now I can only hope they do it in the right blue.

They got my red one too bright the first time, but they paid return shipping and got it right the second time. I did attach a swatch of vinyl both times. RB

If the old padding is still on the dash, then they shouldn't have a problem getting the color correct. If you stripped the dash, then I suggest that you send them the color sample so they can match it correctly. As for the samples that they sent me, I requested them, since I have been down this road many times in the past with other vendors. With age comes wisdom, problem is that we get smart way to late in life, and old way too soon..

Will they do a 62 original dash in the correct 62 blue? Do they need a sample color?
I have an original 62 dash pad (2 pieces to send them). Who do you need to talk to? I can't tell from their web site.
