Can't find a VIN on a friends 1962 pickup. There is a plate on the driver side windshield pillar with a serial number. Seem to recall reading something about some trucks not having a VIN but can't remember. Could someone refresh my memory. Thanks

you should be referring to the door jamb. that is where the ser #(vin) should be. the nbr should start 2C14 if it is a 62 2 wheel dr 1/2t

sidworks is correct....The serial# IS what is used to register the vehicle(what "they" call a vin today)

If you look, it is stamped into the left top frame rail in two places also.

Only the last 8 alpha-numeric characters of the VIN, is stamped on the top flange of the driver side frame rail...adjacent to the alternator location and below the approximate location of the seated driver.
