There is a vertical clip on the floorboard. In the pics the armrest are to the outside of the clips whereas they need to go inside of them.

A screw goes through the armrest into the clip to hold it up in the correct place.

my next question would be where the top of the lower armrest meets the upper piece and the seat trim piece in the rear it just seems to be floppy with no support if you were to lean your arm on it the piece will sag out and pull away from the side of the car

Do you have the two screws installed in the front of the arm rest. I think mine was stable when the rear was attached with a screw to the floor tab and mounted by the two front screws.

yes i do have the front screws on. i think what the problem may be is that when we recovered the rear seat we didnt use the preformed cushion i just couldnt see spending 250 plus oversize shipping for it we used 2 inch foam and 1 inch bating over it and i think it made the seat too "puffy" the covers where real tight to get on and as a result i dont think the sides stick out as much as they should leaving a gap on either side between the arm rest and the seat. every other seat ive ever seen sits tight up against the arm rest so i think i answered my own question after looking it all over again.
