I've got a 1990 Chevy C1500 with 350ci engine and THM400 trans. I've noticed a leak at the end of the trans and thought it was the rear seal, but it leaks out of the back of the yoke, right behind the u-joint. Is it possible that the inside of the yoke rusted a small hole that it would leak trans fluid out of? It only really starts to leak when I leave it parked on an incline for at least 3 days. It left a nice oil slick on my driveway

there is a sleeve inside the trans tailhousing with an o-ring inside of it that the driveshaft slides into to prevent this. This sleve actually fits on the output shaft and slides up right behind the speed o gear. Sometimes when a trans gets changed or the o-ring gets hard it can cause this problem..AN easy fix is to put silicone into the end of the driveshaft on the inside , which means removing the driveshaft , but easier than pulling tailhousing and driveshaft..Mark

Ha! I posted the same problem here last week. I noticed it after a clutch job and refilling the transfer case. Got some mixed responses about vented and unvented yokes, spline seals, plugs in the yoke. I haven't looked into it any farther, mine's a daily driver and haven't had the time. I'll post back when I figure it out for sure. Or you can post if you figure it out?
And if yours is leaking on an incline and not the flat, it may be low of fluid.
Keep throwing money at it, it'll get better...

Yeah, I noticed your post after I posted mine. Looks like we are in the same boat. Mine is also my daily driver and I hardly have any time to work on it. Got a lot of other more critical things to fix on it, so in the mean time I back my truck into the driveway when I have it parked for more than a couple of days so it doesn't leak out of the yoke.
