I have a non-power steering 1957 Chevy. I'd like to add power steering. How hard is this to do and is it best to do with stock components vs. aftermarket kits?

Depends on several things.

Do you want to stay all original or close to it? There are "numbers matching" power steering kits out there, where every part is as perfect as possible, date codes are correct, even bolt head markings are correct, but be prepared to spend a lot, perfection isn't cheap. And there are kits that are close but not as detailed, but contain all the parts for an OEM type power steering conversion. If your car is all stock, these type of kits are purely bolt-on, no fabrication, modifying or hole drilling required.

If you are OK with aftermarket power steering you have several choices, but there are circumstances that dictate which is best for your car. In some cases you will need to do some modifications to fit the components/parts. Your fabrication skill level will determine if this is feasible.

Start by telling us what engine and trans you have, etc., and your goals for the car.
