patgizz offered some great insight that is buried in another thread. I want to try and gather more similar info. from you geniuses.

+12 offset is 12mm more backspacing than 0 offset, which would be 4.5" on a 9" wheel. so 4.5" + 12mm = 4.97" of backspacing plus the lip of the rim.

i had 245 rubber on the back of my 54 for 5 years with about an inch to spare to the framerail and nothing to spare to the quarter panel. so the 275 was definitely a tight squeeze.

I love wheels. I love 15 x 6 Radirs and I love humomma 20" wheels done right and this always seems to be a question with our rides.

7 or 8 in. wheels with a 4 or 4 1/2 back spacing works great with the standard (60 inch) axle. Please share you info. including length of rear axle. especially if longer or shorter than 60".

not sure on width of mine but it is from a 67 camaro. i ran 17x8 with 4.5 backspace and 245/45 tires.

at one point i did have a 17x9.5 rear with 275 rubber but i can't remember which axle i had under the car at the time.

I'd like to hear from a couple of folks with second gen. camaro or firebird rear axles. They're a couple of inches longer and of course the back spacing would be different.
