Talking about the years of our body style covered on this board, what year did the first 4-door Crew Cab-short bed models come out.
Would I likely have any luck finding up to an 2006 model 2WD short bed crew cab with 5.3 engine and 3.43 rear end ratio & G80 locker? Did they make them like that?

I can't remember, maybe 2001 by GM?? I've seen earlier year non-GM crewcab SWB conversions.
Shouldn't be a problem finding a 2005-2007 Classic with those features- But it would be a 3.42 ratio...

Yeah, I guess it would be a 3.42
I did a search on Auto-Trader On-line and the earliest model I saw was a 2003.

That's what I did too- after I guessed 2002.
Then I found a white 2001 1500 crew down here.

I saw one that year also, but it looked to be a long bed crew cab, which would be like driving a barge around

I believe you're right Matt. That does look like a 6' bed.

Now you guys are making my eyes hurt.
I work at a body shop & so I had a body tech look at these same pics- It's a SWB.
I even got this trucks VIN# and ran it in our GM parts dept, the bed sides & floor are SWB.
The 2000-2006 LWB are the 7', the SWB are 6', and the NBS GM crew cabs have the 5'8" beds.

I've seen crew cabs on the dealer lot every year since I bought my 98. I don't think there was a gap in production.
