While on vacation we hit our first thunderstorm in Florida (fancy that, actually there were about fifty of them during the two weeks we spent around the state, but this one is the problem). I had the AC cranked to a high fan speed, all cold, front and rear, and blowing out the dash vents. The windshield began to fog up so I left the rear AC on cold and full tilt and turned the front AC to defrost and added half heat. After the storm, windshield clear, I went to put it back to full tilt AC (not max though, fresh air) and I turned the fan up, the temp to cold, and then the direction to the dash vents. I think something got stuck. It's blowing about 90% out of the defrost vents and 10% out of the floor. No matter where I put that knob, it stays there.
Rear AC works perfect and I aimed a couple of the middle row vents up front so my wife and I won't fry. We finished our vacation and I'm ready to tackle this problem.
Problem is I don't even know where to start. I read a few things on FSC and on here about some servos that require pulling the entire dash (and I'd take it to a Chevy dealer for that mess) and also something about taking fuses out and starting the truck and then shutting it off and putting the fuses back in, and that worked for some people, but I'm confused and hoped maybe someone here might have had the same problem where their front AC got stuck on defrost.

OK I found the little arm that actuates the door and I moved the door so the air comes out the dash vents. The actuator arm feels weak, it's supposed to move that door a few inches and it's only moving a few millimeters instead. I bet that servo needs replaced. For now I can move it manually now that I know how far it needs to move for each position. Sucks to have to stop the truck to jam my hand up in there to do it but I'd rather have cold AC in my face and have to stop in the rain here and there.
