Thank God I have a Daughter who can upload picture's for me!
The Blind Nut? Or Plate Was on the outside of the upper portion of the strike and not inside the housing,I think when the truck was made it never had one inside as the assembly is welded in and
looks like it never had one in it
My ? is how or what would be the best way to fix this? when I took it off the plate was inside but
on the outside of the housing but seems like the
strike plate was loose all the time and won't stay tight! Do I just Live with this or cut an access on the inside to place the plate in it's
prospective location? Hope all This makes seance
Thanks for any Help!

Maybe this should be moved to the 1917-1959 Trucks
Forum?

It is normal for the upper plate of the strike plate to be removable. If there is a cage on the back side of the sheetmetal, the plate will fit into the cage. IF it doesn't, knock the cage off the back side of the sheetmetal and hold the plate in place while you thread in your bolts.
The strike plate doesn't move around once it is bolted down. In your second picture, you will notice that the surface is ribbed - this will prevent the strike plate from moving around once the bolts are tightened down. The ribbed surface has to be put next to the sheetmetal in order for it to work.

Vaughn,
The plate was on the very out side of the Cage
and bolted that way from the Factory I Believe,
and the cage has no provision for it to go into
which makes me believe that it came this way from the factory,If You look in the picture the bottom
threaded plate is inside and look at the top it
is missing the threaded insert, there is no way to
get it into cage or housing from the back.
i would really like to have it back the way it should be but think it would be major surgery to
get it this way! i don't think they make a replacement patch panel for this area and wondering how i should go about to repair this?
Thinking maybe i would have to cut the interior sheet metal to get access to this area to repair it
Thank You For the reply!

Vaughn,
I read more into your reply and if i am following you right you are saying to knock or remove the cage entirely? and then bolt the plate up that way?
Thanks Again!

It's too bad you need a little adjustability in that area or you could just install a couple NutSerts.

They do make a patch panel for that area - but it is A LOT more work than just removing the cage.
Have you looked at the other door to see how it was put together?

Yes I have, this is on my 59 stepside and i also have
a 58 Cameo, The 58 has plate's inside the Housing
or Cage as you put it, in the top and bottom of each
door and the 59 has plates also top & bottom as well!on drivers side. Really think that this was missed on the assembly line as there is no way it could of come out (Who has the Replacement or patch Panel?)
Thanks Again,
Allen

Vaughn,
Those are the Lower HINGE repair panels,What i need is the door Strike plate area, ive never seen a replacement panel for this area available!
Bye the way i did order one of the lower hinge replacement panels from a different supplier and
i am replacing the drivers side out.
Thinking of doing what you suggested and remove the cage all together and then bolt the plate up against the flatter sheet metal on the door pillar and hoping it makes it more secure!
Thanks again!,
