Truck is a 1994 Chevy 350 5.7.. It has a new compressor.. Tag on compressor says to add 2oz of oil to new compressor..
Due to so much material in just the orifice tube, I didnt feel comfortable flushing the system as a whole.. I pulled all the lines, condenser and flushed each thing separately.. I bought a new dryer and orifice tube..

So how much oil is really supposed to go into the system?? I thought it needed 4oz of PAG oil in the compressor? Then 4oz in the system when charging it??

drain the compressor and then add whatever amount of oil the tag on your truck says.many compressors come with the correct amount of oil for a system. since you had so much debris in your system,i would add a suction line filter to protect the new compressor.

2 things. like the other member said. the underhood tag should specify how much pag oil. As should the owners manual.
Also the compressor is shipped with different oil for storage and shipment. You must drain it out and refill with the amount that the paper shows. Usually you would compare what was removed from the old compressor as to what is put into the new but on a unknown it should be on the paper.

He's got my old extended cab, the compressor is a new NAPA Cold Power unit which I believe is 100% dry out of the box, no oil in it. I'm pretty sure the system takes 8 oz but it's been a couple years since I had to fill a dry system on one of these; if I recall I looked it up or asked on the forums at ackits.com.
Man, that's a lot of crud on the orifice, considering it was a brand new one a couple years ago when I previously replaced the compressor. I'm glad I suggested flushing it. The compressor I removed worked seemingly fine until one day I could tell it was lugging the engine down at idle so I shut it off and disconnected it. So much for buying new instead of reman, right?

Found this in All DATA
Refrigerant Oil Distribution
Notes
REFRIGERANT OIL DISTRIBUTION
The Harrison HT-6 compressor system used on all models requires polyalkaline glycol (PAG) refrigerant oil in the quantities listed below:
Without Aux. A/C - 240 ml (8 fl oz)
With Aux. A/C - 330 ml (11 fl oz)
New oil quantities must be added to the system during component replacement and conditions stated as follows:
With no signs of excessive oil leakage, add:
All Compressors (drain and measure the oil)
If less than 30 ml (1 fl oz) is drained-add 60 ml (2 fl oz) to the new compressor.
If more than 30 ml (1 fl oz) is drained-add same amount that was drained to the new compressor.
Accumulator-Add 105 ml (3.5 fl oz) of new oil to the replacement accumulator to compensate for oil retained by original accumulator desiccant and bag assemblies. The accumulator should only be replaced if leaking due to a perforation, damaged O-ring seal seat, or damaged threads.
Evaporator-Add 90 ml (3 fl oz) of new refrigerant oil.
Condenser-Add 30 ml (1 fl oz) of new refrigerant oil.
Yeah, I am glad I flushed it out.. About to install the dryer and go get it charged up..

HT6 is the new style compressor on the 1996-up trucks. Lemme see if I can find that same info I used last time.
OK, here we go, my old post with info straight from the 1994 factory service manual. 8 oz in the "single" system.
