Pierre,

Those do look nice on your ride. I have a pair of those same type of SL that I'm thinking of putting on my 58. Q: is there a template of where those are to be mounted on the doors? I haven't found anything as yet that would provide me that info. Did you have that info to install yours or did you just 'eyeball it'?

Thanks,

Mike

Hey Fifties!

I used the same mounting holes already in place from the other mirrors, did not want to drill more, thus if I want to remove them it's simple. Down side they are mounted with 2/3 screws, but they are on there solid! And you really cannot tell. I know there's a lot of talk about NuVue vs. Trailmasters etc. I am one to say, would I love to have a pair of trailmasters (sure) am I going to pay $2000+ for a set that someone found at a swap meet or somewhere for $250 or less, heck no. These NuVues are sweet, solid and work. I've gotten nothing but compliments from people. I'm not sure where these 'values' and prices come from but it's crazy!! Just like paying $1500 for a compass. All accessories I'd like to have one day, but I'm not going to shell out $1000's for items that have "current face value" I recently talked to someone who told me that trailmasters, for example are "no longer desired" my point exactly, an item that someone might have paid $1000's for is now getting to where it's no longer in demand and in other terms "worthless" I think this goes back to if you like it, and it looks great; do it! People WILL HATE regardless, whether NuVue, Trailmaster or whatever...and mind you I never stated that mine were any brand, simply mirror spotlights

IMHO

Smoove,

I completely understand that the costs of accessories can (and have been) subjective. It's a matter of taste IMO as to what the person likes to have on their ride. I, for one, like the NV over the TM spots (thats just me). Besides, they're more affordable and available to get a hold of.

The reason I asked about a template is that my driver side door had cancer rot where the previous mirror was mounted and had to be patched and the pass side door didn't have the optional mirror installed.

I figured this would give me a chance to (upgrade?) to the SL mirrors and wanted to locate them per the template directions. I guess I could use the standard mirror template as a guide and go from there.

Q: Do you have a pic of the direct side view? I'm trying to see where the SL is located on the door in reference to the wing window assembly.

Thanks for the reply.

Mike,

I'll be working on her tonight and can take some better pictures. I was luckily able to use the existing holes and I think they look great where they are and moreover the handle is very comfortably reachable should you actually want to move/position the light/mirror. I did run the wire into the door, but have yet to actually hook them up to power (can't wait). It's my goal to do that this weekend!
