Well it finally happened after weeks of me trying to prevent it.. My fuel pump is dead and i was wondering instead of getting the el-cheaply made one from auto zone it seems it might be cheaper to get the ac delco pump and sending unit separately and put it together myself. Would this be the wiser road to take?

Did you compare prices to this site?

Shop the part number on ebay too.
I'm not familiar with your pump assembly. When I replaced my 96, I just bought the whole thing. My needle gauge was off a little. It would not move from full until 75 miles we on it. Now it, it moves right on. It still bounces around at stops/goes and angle parking.

While you may be able to get the pump separately, it may be more trouble than it's worth. Get the entire unit from www.getgmparts.com
