I have cash waiting for a good convertible. I've posted in the classified section as well, but not too sure how many people go there. Any leads would be VERY much appreciated. Prefer 52-54 but will consider others. Thank you very much.

DDD, what happened to the covert you were interested in?
A friend in Ohio, Frank, now 81, has a couple of barns of collected cars, he has been thinning the herd, don't know what is left.
Among those is a 1951 Chevy Convert., black with a deeper red leather or leather type interior. Don't remember the top color, seems every time I was around the car, the top was down. Not certain if it has been ever upgraded to a 235, it is stick, does have dual exhaust, has a continental kit, as well. Nice car, good driver. Could use detail, as I recall, but a nice, solid car that could be driven anytime.
The previous owner of the convert, Charley, passed away, after a head injury from a closing garage door, he was in his 70's. Then my friend, Frank, bought the car from Charley's estate about 5 years ago, now he is 81.
I knew the previous owner, Charley, he had the cars for as many years as I can ever recall.

I would love to get more information on the 51. As I said, I'm really into this....can I get any emailed photos and more details if possible? Price? Location? Thank you for the heads up. The blue one is still in the mix, but there are a few things I'm not sure about. Not out of it....just waiting to see what happens on Ebay. Any others out there???

As I stated, the car is in, and has been, in northern Ohio. I wll try to get photos for you via email from Frank's daughter. He is 81, has no interest in computers. I will make attempts this coming week, will advise as to what I come up with.

Bob,
If this doesn't work out for DDD, I may be interested in this 51 conv. As I've mentioned in a few posts my first car was a black 51 conv with the red leather. Northern Ohio is only about 60 miles for me.

Man oh man... the poor guy makes it through 70+ years of life and gets done in by a garage door! Sad.

Yes, very sad. Charley had a diner, named "The Nifty Fifty Diner", located in Madison, Ohio. Madison is east of Cleveland, about 40 miles east, right on the shores of Lake Erie. Madison is almost midway between Cleveland and Erie, Pa.
Charley organized a "cruise in", very successful, had a DJ, at Madison Village .... every Tuesday night.
Overhead garage door came down on his head, I think the seriousness of the accident was overlooked by the E.R room doctor. He lasted for some time, continued to work at his diner. Balance became affected, vision, etc. They he passed. Nice guy. I miss him.
Somewhere I have pics of my 51 and Charleys 51 at the Tuesday night cruise in. I don't have a scanner but will still look.
DDD, I left a message for Frank's daughter, recall Frank is the current owner of this 51 convert.

That really is a sad story. Poor guy..... it makes me think of where we'll all end up, who gets our cars when we get old and die? It's funny, I've found myself thinking about this more often of late. I truly appreciate you reaching out for me about this car. Know this, any car that I end up buying will be going to a family that will love it and use it. I've got a burning need for a convertible.....!!!

Know what you mean. I find myself thinking about the same ..... seems to be a unconscious action.

I'm sure we've all wondered what will happen to our cars when we're gone. Coincidently, I have a little story from this past weekend to share.

Boy, a great story that can tear your eye, raise the hair on your neck ..... or both.
My 51 has had 3 owners, me included. The guy I bought the 51 from in 2000 still keeps in touch with me and emails me his ongoing internet collection of naked ladies. Wilbur is now in his mid 80's.

Good point Idaho. Also watch Ebay parts cars--I see '53-'54 Chevy convertibles every so often that are rusted out, but appear to be complete.

I hope one of you folks buy it, if you would have known Charlie, you would have known the care the car received.
This car deserves a good home.

I have been on CT for several years, I still do not know how to post pics.
These pics were sent to me in email form, if you know how to post them, I could forward the pics to you for you to post.
There are not "many" pics, some are on the dark side, but will forward to you, if that would work.
