I've got a bunch of misc. stuff I need for the '58, wondering who is good to deal with. I realize we have some forum sponsors like Classic Parts and Bob's that deal in items for these trucks and I'm interested in doing business with those that support our site...but more importantly I need to know who's dealing in the quality items and has good service.
I need things like side glass assemblies, wiper setup (everything is missing from mine, absolutely everything), front license bracket, side mirror, stuff like that should get me started for now.

Richard, pretty much everything I got came from LMC Truck in Kansas, good people to deal with.

I've been dealing with these guys even before they were called classic parts. Used to be Chevy Duty. I've ordered tons of stuff from them built over 3 trucks using their stuff. "of course alot of stuff is forgien" no matter who you get it from and I've never had an issue with them... and that's saying something these days. When I did have a problem they took care of it right away.

Yeah price is important but I will always hold quality and service much higher, I have no problem paying more if it means I'm going to get a benefit from it. I do realize a lot of this stuff is only foreign-sourced now and I hate that but it's unfortunate reality.
Funny thing about Chevy Duty, I think I remember that name from the old days, didn't know they had become Classic Parts.
I've done business with LMC in the past for 88-98 trucks and have very mixed feelings about them, and honestly have found much of what they offer from other sources either with better quality or at least better prices - as far as the 88-98 stuff goes, anyway.
Allen - I've heard about rubber product issues from some suppliers, particularly door gaskets. My doors don't fit worth a damn so it may not mean anything to me at this point. But good to know.

Yeah, and I like female parts to be newer than 1958, but we're talking about the truck here.

Richard, I also recommend the Truck Shop in California. They are one of my dealers (they buy from me wholesale). I've bought from them a dozen different times for various 55-59 trucks over that past 8-10 years, their prices seem to be better than others for the exact same parts. On one occasion I had a problem with a part but they tripped all over themselves correcting it, even paid for returning the bad part to them, I was very impressed with that.
As for rubber parts, I find T&N brand to be the best. Ask whoever you buy from if they stock T&N rubber.

The people at Tim Tygart's Obsolete Chevy worked hard to try to help me. This was my first contact with them, so I came away with a very good first impression. I ordered a driveline bushing from them, so we will see how that goes.
