Greetings All:
First, let me say up front, I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT BODY WORK!!! OK, now, I need the top of a fender fixed, (Small 2" thin crack). Body shop says no problem. Here is my concern though. He stated he can blend the paint in on the fender with no problem BUT!!!, it will fade within 2 years. It is a base coat/clear coat paint, kinda a tangerine orange color. I have the original paint formula for him to mix the paint also. Another body shop man told me it should not fade if done correctly. WHO IS CORRECT???
Like I stated earlier, I know nothing about body work, just greasy work, LOL.

THANKS in advance for your input, it is appreciated as always.

Willow

It WILL NOT fade if it's done correctly using reasonably good quality materials.

The color base should be blended, then the whole fender should be clearcoated.

X3. It sounds like he was going to blend in the clear and not clear the whole panel. Stupid thing to do on the fender. If that is what he is talking about, then you will be able to see where the clear was blended in a couple of years. Even if he were talking about the basecoat, I'd find someone else to do the work. It sounds like he has consistent problems and is giving excuses beforehand.
