I am having trouble finding some alternator brackets to suit a Dart Big M block - I want to install the alternator down low on the drivers side of the block (our passengers side) what are you big block guys using ?

Try CnC Custom & Hot Rods online. Also do a search for Big Block Chev Alternator Brackets

you may be amazed at what you could mock up and then build with some careful thought, measurement, and fabrication, a welder comes in handy and card board and duct tape can be used for mocking up a pattern, looking at the prices Id be fabricating a custom mount in a heart beat rather than paying top dollar

Blacky here's one I made with a jigsaw and used a rotary table on a small miller to cut the radius for the belt adjustment. You can make a template off the block with some cardboard and mark it out with a small ballpein hammer.Drill a hole for the alternator mount and bolt it on . You can scribe the arc for the belt adjustment then use the mounting hole in the centre of the rotary table to cut it out hope this helps.

I am thinking I am going to have to fabricate one , as you guys point out its not that hard, especially if you have a mate with a laser cutter .
Bigblock57 , is that a HQ/Z front clip on your car ? I have done the same thing.

Yes it is a HZ clip it made it a lot easier for oil pan clearance and just bolt on the power steering. I did a similar thing on the other side for the power pump and used a remote oil tank.

Used a Billet specialties column with a firewall mount from borgasen. I used DD to 3/4" universal also from borgasen and then 3/4" stainless shaft to the aftermarket neopreen flex joint.
